High Enchanter (Guild Leader)

The highest mage rank in the guild is that of High Enchanter. The High Enchanter exemplifies the ideals of the Order, is the most skilled of mages in combat, and serves as a leadership model for all. The High Enchanter directly commands those with rank of Archmage in the guild, but stands above all mages.

Qualifications

A candidate for High Enchanter must have held the rank of High Sage for at least four consecutive weeks prior to challenging for the position, and must first seek the approval from the Guildmaster or Avatar.

Time in Rank

There is no higher mage rank than High Enchanter. If the High Enchanter is demoted in rank, he may not challenge to regain the title for a period of four weeks.

Responsibilities

The High Enchanter is expected to organize events, to mentor, to lead, and to serve his guildmates in any way possible as the supreme mage within the Order.

Special Authority

As the leader of the Archmages, the High Enchanter is one of two individuals who must give permission to challenge for the rank of Archmage (the other being the Guildmaster, Avatar, or an Archon). The High Enchanter may demote any Archmage to the rank of Sage immediately if he finds that the Archmage is not performing his duties. Although less common, the High Enchanter may also demote any Sage to the rank of Adept (this would more commonly be handled by the High Sage).

How to Obtain Rank

Once the High Sage has satisfied the time requirements and obtains permission to challenge, he must defeat the current High Enchanter in a ranking battle of five rounds. The candidate must win at least four of the five duels to gain the title. If he does, he becomes the new High Enchanter and the old holder of that rank becomes the new High Sage.

Title

The guild title of the High Enchanter is always "High Enchanter" or "High Enchantress", as appropriate.

Loss of Rank

Unless demoted, the only way to lose rank is to be defeated during a ranking match.
